vanillaknits: So, I have this yarn. It's really cheap acrylic $ store stuff I'm experimenting with. My problem is, it's really fuzzy. Almost two fuzzy for me to pick out the individual stitches. Is there any tips you can give me for knitting with it?I did a bit of nosing around and managed to find a few different options for you!
- For starters you could try using bamboo or wooden needles, as they tend to handle bothersome or slippery yarn a bit better than plastic or metal.
- Larger stitches are easier to see, so you may want to consider going up a few needle sizes.
- You could manage your work in smaller groups by placing markers every ten stitches or so.
- You could knit with one strand of your acrylic yarn held together with another strand of yarn that is of equal weight. That, in theory, should make your stitches more defined.
- Or, you could even try using a pattern (such as clapotis) that incorporates dropped stitches. That way if you do lose any, it won’t be as noticeable!
Ultimately there isn’t really a remedy for cheap yarn. You really get what you pay for, and the best advice I can give is to work with your yarn, not against it!
